Most of the free food pantry locations may have an application process, which usually requires proof of income, residency proof etc. Using donations from the community, and relying on volunteers, the locations may pass out free boxes of food or serve a meal.

Mashiba

Masbia is a nonprofit soup kitchen network and food pantry, everyday providing hot, nutritious meals for hundreds of New Yorkers in desperate need of food. Alongside our hot-meal program, we also give out bags of much needed groceries every week to those with not enough at home, through our weekend take-home package program. Masbia works to not only feed the hungry, but to provide free, wholesome, and delicious meals for people in a restaurant-style environment, with volunteer waiters serving each person with respect and dignity. The non-profit organization run a soup kitchen for those who are age 60 and older as well as their spouses. Meals on Wheels is also available.
Pantry take-home packages are distributed every Thursday in Masbia of Flatbush from 7:00am – 10:00am.You can also receive packages Sunday – Thursday from 5:00pm – 6:00pm. Masbia of Boro Park distributes packages from 8:00am – 11:00am. Masbia of Queens distributions are Sunday – Thursday from 2:00pm – 6:00pm. Please note for Masbia of Queens and Masbia of Flatbush, only one package per week can be picked up.

Salvation Army
The nations and regions leading non-profit agency. They offer social services and a food pantry at five different locations in the Brooklyn New York region. Clients will need a referral and to also make an appointment. In addition to free food and meals, the centers have other assistance too. This can include a clothing closet, free Christmas and Thanksgiving meals, the Angel Tree program, and maybe even money to pay rent or energy bills.
